The 2025 PKKMB Biology Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Palangka Raya University, carries the theme "Together with Biology, Becoming a GENIUS Student: An Innovative, Superior, and Solution-Oriented Generation."


Palangka Raya, August 14, 2025 – The Biology Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Palangka Raya University, in collaboration with the Biology Student Association (HIMABIO), once again welcomed new students through the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) activity, which is uniquely called EMBRIO (New Biology Student Orientation). This year, the activity carries the theme "Together with Biology GENIUS: Innovative, Superior, and Solution-Oriented Generation", reflecting the spirit of forming students who are adaptive, creative, and ready to make real contributions to the environment and society.

The event took place at the Center for Peat Science and Technology Development and Innovation (PPIIG) Building at Palangka Raya University, starting at 6:30 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time) and lasting until the afternoon. From hundreds of applicants, 40 new students were selected, hailing not only from various regions in Central Kalimantan but also from outside the island, such as South Kalimantan, Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. The event was also attended by lecturers, educational staff, the Biology Student Association (HIMABIO), representatives from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Student Executive Board (BEM FMIPA), and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Student Representative Council (DPM FMIPA).

In his remarks, Deceny, S.Si., M.Si., as the Coordinator of the Biology Study Program, expressed his hope that this PKKMB activity would be a gateway for new students to get to know not only the academic world, but also the values ​​of togetherness and family within the Biology Study Program environment. "PKKMB is an important initial moment. Here, students learn to adapt, build networks, and begin to instill the spirit of pursuing dreams and achievements from the first day as part of the FMIPA UPR Biology family," he said.

The series of activities began with an introduction to the lecturers and educational staff in the Biology Study Program, followed by an introduction to the counseling team. New students also received an interactive presentation on the three main areas of concentration in Biology – Microbiology, Zoology, and Botany – delivered by senior students, accompanied by information on various aspects of the lectures, a sharing session, and an overview of HIMABIO student activities. To increase enthusiasm, the committee held an interactive quiz to test the new students' knowledge and understanding.

The event concluded with a group photo session to officially mark the new students' joining the extended family of the UPR FMIPA Biology Study Program. The entire series ran smoothly, orderly, and full of enthusiasm, reflecting the solidarity of the committee and the enthusiasm of the participants. It is hoped that the experience of the 2025 UPR FMIPA Biology PKKMB will provide a strong foundation for new students in treading their academic and non-academic journeys, while also encouraging real contributions to the development of Biology that benefits the environment and society.
